What I Wore 53: The Everyday Pencil Skirt, Part Two

Hi guys! We got back from California late last night, so I'll be unpacking and catching up on emails today, but I wanted to try to jump back into a regular posting schedule right away with this What I Wore look from a few weeks ago. I have a lot more pictures from San Francisco and Sonoma, so I hope you're excited to see some of them soon!

I bought this crop top at the BCBGeneration store in Mall of America last year because I saw it and thought "hell yeah, I'm twenty-something, let's do this," and then I never wore it once. I feel like the rule with crop tops is that your belly button has to be covered--is that a real thing?--and even my super high-waisted jeans still left the majority of my stomach exposed.

It wasn't until I paired it with my favorite pencil skirt that I realized I could put it on and then actually leave the house. And while it's not exactly a work-appropriate look, I think it's perfect for happy hour or a night out with the girls.

Top: BCBGeneration | Skirt: J.Crew

Shoes: Jessica Simpson | Bag: Kate Spade

Earrings: c/o Stella & Dot | Bracelet: Chloe + Isabel

San Francisco, Day Two + Wine Country

We left San Francisco on Monday morning, stopping for lunch in Burlingame before heading up to Santa Rosa for the night. Our Airbnb was so dreamy--we had a private cottage in the middle of this lovely couple's garden backyard.

Yesterday was jam-packed with wine adventures, including an absolutely wonderful visit to the La Crema Vineyard, where we were treated to a tour and tasting with Elizabeth, La Crema's wonderful head winemaker. Courtney and I had a meeting after that and our sweet husbands waited for us before we all headed to the amazing loft where we'll be staying, cooking, and shooting until Friday morning. This trip has been such a dream!

Here's another list of places we went and things we ate:

Today we have our work cut out for us--with a few more meetings, lots of grocery shopping, and quite a bit of cooking and shooting. I'm so excited to share everything we've been working on with you soon!

San Francisco, Day One
Freckled Italian | San Francisco

Hello from California! This morning I have a meeting here in the city and then Rob and I are picking up a rental car and heading to Santa Rosa for the night before the big few days of work with La Crema begin!

We landed in San Fransisco Saturday evening, got our bags, and checked into our lovely Airbnb before heading out in search of a very late dinner before going straight to bed. Yesterday, however, was jam-packed full of walking, eating, and hanging out with friends we haven't seen in far too long (also I took a ton of pictures).

Here's what we did:

  • Stayed in Haight-Ashbury.
  • Dinner and a walk around The Castro
  • Coffee at Ritual Coffee Roasters in Mission.
  • Brunch at Mission Beach Cafe--I had the best Benedict ever.
  • Late lunch with friends at The Little Chihuahua (Rob got a burrito and I had tacos and they were amazing).
  • Ice cream from Bi-Rite. We waited in line for at least 30 minutes and it was absolutely worth it. If you go you have to have the honey lavender. It's pretty dreamy.
  • Met up with more friends while we waited for ice cream and we all spent an hour or two sitting in Mission Dolores Park.
  • Headed to North Beach for dinner with Rob's cousin--we grabbed a drink and some appetizers at Balboa Cafe before doing the exact same thing at Rose's Cafe.
