What I Wore 70: Spring Uniform
Spring Uniform | Freckled Italian

I was never much of a shorts person until I found these ones. They're silk, so they feel super fancy; but they're also loose and have a drawstring, so they're basically pajamas for adults who have to run errands and can't handle being seen in yoga pants one more time. I would like them in every color and/or pattern that Earth has to offer.

Hosting a Tapas Dinner Party
Tapas Dinner | Freckled Italian

If you haven't caught on by now, my absolute favorite way to entertain is with small plates. It gives everyone a little bit of everything and makes it really easy to make sure you're providing for allergies/dietary restrictions, which is something that means a lot to me. Plus, it's delicious, and that's really reason enough.

Here's how I do it:

  1. Start with olives, bread, cheese, and some other charcuterie stuff. I love salami and prosciutto but this time I went with chorizo and some Iberico ham.
  2. Get fancy with it. Regular almonds would be just fine, but I seasoned some and roasted them instead, which made for a more thoughtful touch. Plus, who doesn't want a spicy roasted almond?
  3. Pick a few "main" dishes--these are bigger than the snacks. I went with mussels and goat cheese dip with artichokes, which I served with crusty bread and tortilla chips.
  4. Pour the wine! It's not a tapas dinner party without some delicious wine. I served La Crema's Willamette and Sonoma Coast Pinot Noirs as well as a few chilly glasses of their Monterey Pinot Gris. Mmm.

Weekend in Photos // Little Splurges
Weekend in Photos // Little Splurges

I shared all these photos on Instagram this weekend, but I couldn't resist putting them in a collage and posting them here on the blog today. We had no plans this weekend other than driving to Davidson for some paint, but somehow we ended up having the dreamiest weekend. I think lunch at Kindred just does that to you.

Spring is in the air and it is seriously lovely. There's something about those chilly wet mornings and warmer afternoons that bring me right back to my college days, when Rob and I first met and I was reading Shakespeare every day and listening to a lot of Taylor Swift.

Now there are walls to paint and pups to walk and long fancy lunches to enjoy. Life is good in March.

When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest. The only thing that could spoil a day was people and if you could keep from making engagements, each day had no limits. People were always the limiters of happiness except for the very few that were as good as spring itself.
