Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost

I've been feeling some pretty serious wanderlust lately.

I've traveled. Not like some people do, but I've been across the United States and to Canada and Mexico, the Bahamas, England, Italy, France. I've had my fair share of enlightening city and museum tours and mind-blowing pasta. It seems like a lot and then I look at a map of the world and my travels feel almost insignificant. I was a baby in Hawaii once.

But lately I've been thinking about Norway (these photos didn't help). And Ireland. I want to have tea in a foggy little mountain town where sheep roam about on really green grass. In May, I'll be Mrs. Peterson in the Dominican Republic, and after that I want to travel more.

I've been a couple of times before, but I want to get to know Seattle. Re-visit San Francisco (woops!--doing some research already) and eat really good sushi, and clam chowder out of sourdough bread bowls. And then I'd like to find myself in Europe and Scandanavia, drinking coffee and taking gorgeous hikes on unfamiliar trails.

Where have you been? Where do you want to go?

Vacation in Photos | Williamsburg
I'm going to dump a few more photos on you for now, and then that should be it until I start showing you my favorite shots from our engagement session, which I'm pretty sure is going to end up being a series of three posts full of just photos. Woops.

We spent our second week in Virginia with Rob's family in Williamsburg, and I had some time to meet up with friends like Sarah and my college roommate, Michele. I ate sandwiches on gluten-free bread and drank wine for lunch and had afternoon espresso every day. And then there was the park, where William ran around and acted like a five year old even though he's one and a half.

On Friday we went to Farmville and on Saturday my other college roommate, Caroline, got married in Charlottesville. We really did Virginia! It was a great vacation, but I'm glad to be back. By the end of our two weeks away, I found myself referring to Minneapolis as home, and it feels good. Virginia is always going to have a piece of my heart, though.

What have you guys been up to? I can't believe it's already Wednesday!

Vacation in Photos | Roanoke
I spent my first week back in Virginia at my parents house in Roanoke. It felt weird to come "home" and call it "vacation," but it somehow managed to feel like both. I spent time with friends, getting drinks, having dinner, and going on coffee dates. I went to the gym and then to the spa with my mom, had a wedding dress fitting, got dresses for my bridesmaids, cuddled with my dog, and read a book. It was great.

On Friday morning, Rob flew in from Minneapolis and I picked him up at the airport. We got coffee and did some grocery shopping for my mom before heading home, then back downtown for lunch with his friend, Ed. A few hours later, Rob's brothers and their friends were arriving, and we went back to my parents' house for beers and hard cider on the back deck. The next day his parents arrived with his oldest brother, his wife, and my sweet nephew-to-be. My best friends Tina and Emma came over, and everyone got acquainted and we had a little engagement party.

There's not much better than having so many people you love all together under one roof.
