Rob’s out of town this week and whenever he travels for work I go to bed so incredibly early. It’s really the only thing I like about having him away—I used to be a terrible sleeper when he traveled but with Ender and our security system I really don’t mind it. I know it’s a pretty basic thing, to be able to sleep in your own home on your own but it was something I struggled with for years, even to the point of panic attacks. I still have a lot of anxiety that I struggle with almost daily but I’m so happy that going to bed in an “empty” (a dog and a toddler are pretty good company) house isn’t on the list anymore.

I’m not nursing anymore and so I started intermittent fasting again—I had done it for a while a few years ago but stopped when I got pregnant and decided to wait until I was done breastfeeding to pick it back up. I forgot how much I like it. Someone asked me if I’d be interested in writing a post about my experience with IF and I think I will, so if you have any specific questions about it leave them for me in a comment or send me an email!

I finally have mastered the stroller + dog combo and our lives have gotten so much better. Ender still probably doesn’t get enough exercise, but it is so nice to know that every day we can go out for a nice long walk. I try to take him out on my own early in the mornings before everyone gets up, but sometimes I just want to sleep in a little, especially now that Sophie usually sleeps until 7:30 or even 8:00 AM. What time do you wake up? I’m always so curious about people’s morning routines.

I’m working on a little e-book about blog monetization and I’m pretty excited about it. I loved teaching Blogging Basics and Monetize Your Blog for SkillPop in Charlotte and every time I taught the latter, people would always ask if there was an ebook or video that they could watch if they weren’t able to actually make it to a class, so I’m hoping to have it available soon. I miss teaching—that was one of my favorite things about Charlotte. Stay tuned!

I thought I'd be feeling better by now, but yesterday I woke up with a fever and felt worse than I had since Wednesday. I took a weird nap during Sophie's first nap but other than that I kind of moped around the house all day--it was almost 90 degrees out and I had been in a funk all weekend. We finally decided to go to Stanford and walk around the mall and I got some frozen "yogurt" from Pressed and it was absolutely delicious. I still wasn't feeling great but I was in such a better mood--it's funny what some sunshine and a frozen treat will do.

Sophie's first two teeth are coming through and they're so cute even though they're making her a little miserable. We got her a high chair and have been giving her bananas, avocado, and yams.

After years of daydreaming about owning one, Rob and I finally bought a rower and did a little 9PM outdoor workout on Saturday night. I fell in love with rowing a few years ago when I started taking the rowing class at my gym in Charlotte, and when we moved I knew I was going to miss it. I still try to take barre at least once a week (usually I take class before or after I teach or on the weekends), but I think it's going to be so nice to have a workout I can do at home while Sophie naps or after she's gone to bed.

I'm working with my one and only designer once again to give this online space a little upgrade, and I'm so excited about it. I've been wanting to update my blog for a while and I absolutely love working with Kelly Ann, so I can't wait to see what she comes up with in a few weeks.

It's been a long week and it's only Wednesday. Monday was a mess of sitting in traffic, missing a 9:40 appointment and instead being a 10:10 walk in (but I finally got my TSA precheck stuff done--it only took me a year or two), and spending hours calling a bunch of different doctors’ offices in an attempt to not get lost in the shuffle; being bounced back and forth from one department to another. One of those days where you just pour a second cup of coffee, leave some voicemails, count your blessings, and try to focus on the good stuff.

Our backyard is like this little magical haven and we keep discovering fruit trees as the seasons change--I'm pretty sure we have peaches or apricots or something that I didn't realize was there when we moved in.

I absolutely hate being late to anything—if I’m not at least 10 minutes early I feel like I’m running behind—but the combination of having a baby and living in an incredibly trafficky area has relieved me of that obsession a bit. I still like to be on time, don't get me wrong, I'm just not waltzing in 20 minutes early for anything anymore like I used to.

For the first time since we had Sophie, I feel like we're looking forward to things other than visitors. Rob is taking another month of paternity leave in a few weeks, which is going to be so amazing--I'm so glad he got to spread out his leave so he can spend time with Sophie in such different stages. The newborn stage was such a fog and we were so tired, just trying to get by a lot of the time, but now she's on more of a schedule and is just so fun. We also have a trip to Virginia and North Carolina planned for the end of May, and I can't wait to spend some time in Richmond, Roanoke, and Charlotte with so many of our best friends.
