What I Wore 50: Bright Pastels & Newlywed Memories

This dress is the first piece of clothing I bought after I married Rob--it was a Saturday and we were in St. Paul, Minnesota for lunch before walking around and popping into a little boutique that I had been meaning to check out. They offer you a drink and have a little sitting area which, I guess, is for husbands; because Rob sat right down and flipped through a magazine while I tried on dresses. It was a relaxing day, our first weekend at home after our wedding and honeymoon, and I remember thinking "gosh, we're so married!" as I gleefully accepted the stereotype of a shop-happy wife and her patient (but bored) husband.

What I Wore 49: The Everyday Pencil Skirt

When I made the transition from office job to working from home, pencil skirts were definitely the chunk of my wardrobe that I missed most (followed closely by heels and statement jewelry). I just don't dress up for everyday life anymore, which is kind of silly. So the other day I challenged myself to dust off one of my favorite skirts and find a way to make it work for just a regular, non-working lunch date.

I decided to pair it with a favorite tee shirt, but I knotted it in the front instead of tucking it in, which is what I usually would have done to go into work. The result was still a little on the dressy side, but I think that with flat shoes or even sandals and a graphic tee instead of a plain one, it could be made even more casual--I'll have to give it another try soon and let you know!

Tee: Victoria's Secret | Skirt (on sale!): J.Crew

Shoes (similar) and Necklace: J.Crew | Bracelet: Banana Republic

Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs | Earrings (not similar but cuter!): Juicy Couture

I've had this skirt for a couple of years and absolutely love it, but I got it hemmed when I first purchased it and now I'm starting to think I might like it better a little longer (right at my knee)--what do you guys think?

What I Wore 46: Denim and Silk

Charlotte is getting hot, and fast. I'm excited about wearing dresses all summer (I'm not much of a shorts person), but yesterday I met Rob and some friends for lunch and decided to pull out my favorite jeans, maybe for the last time this season. I paired them with a super thin tank top that is almost the exact same color as my skin, so not only did I feel topless, but I kind of looked like it, too.

And hey, you can really see my lighter hair here! I'm so happy with how it turned out. At first I thought I wanted to go a lot lighter, but we decided on a more subtle caramel and I'm really loving it so far.
