Weekend in Photos // Labor Day Weekend at the Minnesota State Fair

We hit the Minnesota State Fair on Saturday afternoon and proceeded to have the most non-Paleo day in the world. French fries, fried cheese curds, roast beef sandwiches, hot apple dumplings with ice cream, buffalo chips, funnel cake-- thanks to some dairy pills and a tiny bit of self-restraint, I made it out in one piece. But there was plenty of food to be eaten and farm animals to befriend, and I didn't want to miss a bit.

We slept in on Sunday and woke up to a chilly morning, which was such a nice change after the 90-100 degree days we've been having here lately. I love this time of year no matter what, but it was a pretty good way to say goodbye to summer.

Wishing you a happy Labor Day.

What I Wore 55: Pink and Peplum
Minneapolis is currently a sauna, but I'm ready for boots, dammit! I can't even talk to you East Coast people right now, with your 60 degree mornings. I donned my favorite jeans the other day, but paired it with a tank top and bright accessories, since it's still summer for another month. I get it. That's fine.

This necklace is my favorite, and the bag is so old I had almost forgotten about it. But come on--pink studs and a sequined kiss! I may be counting down the days until fall, but I guess summer's not so bad.

What I Wore 53: Stripes and Sailboats
At the suggestion of Diana, Rob and I headed to Lake Harriet the other evening to walk around and listen to some music. It was our first real encounter with any Minnesota lakes, and we were kind of blown away by how beautiful it was. Coming from Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia, I'm obviously used to being on the water, but sailboats are just something else entirely.

Rob got me this sweet little dress for my birthday two years ago (what?) and I love it so much. I don't wear enough patterned things. It's really twirly, which is great, until the wind picks up a bit and I almost flash everyone around me. It's fine.

Dress: Modcloth
(Similar ones here and here.)
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban
Watch: Fossil
