Slow Summer Weekend
This weekend was full and relaxing in one of those good for the soul, refreshing ways.
It was muggy and it rained and then it was sunny again, and it really felt like a good, slow summer weekend.

Peaches in the kitchen--they get bruised and soft so fast but taste like heaven either way.

I slept in a bit, drank my coffee slowly, and didn't leave the house but once. I caught up on blogs, got a few pages of Les Miserables read, painted my nails, washed my hair, finished editing an essay, and wrote up a little something for a few friends. Rob and I took Rocky for a walk and came home to give him a bath, which is always a struggle but always so darn cute. We finished Game of Thrones, opening up some room for us to catch up on True Blood. Life's not too bad.

How was your weekend? Here's to another week!

Life Lately According to Instagram (#6)

1.  Found this little gem from a trip to Italy in my jewelry box. I hadn't worn it in years, but now I do all the time!
2. Casual Friday at the office: dark jeans and my Wizard of Oz slippers.
3. Clam bake from our vacation at home.
4. Saturday morning at the Farmer's Market.
5. Beautiful morning on the lake.
6. A sneak peek at our outdoor Olympic theater.
7. I've been making coffee ice cubes for my iced coffee and it's sort of changing my life.
8. Dressing up for work is fun for me every day. (Bye, old phone! I just replaced that old guy yesterday).

Happy Friday, friends!

August Rush
[The perfect collision of summer and fall--cold, wet, crunchy grapes. Taken July 2012.]

Dear August,

Welcome! I've been waiting for you. You bring along the promise of soon-to-be crisp mornings and the end of those muggy afternoons. I know, I know--you're still summer, and so is most of September, but you mean something to me anyway. You start that magical, beginning of the semester time of year. The season of new books and fresh pens. Of paper and leaves and Dashboard Confessional.

You hint at autumn sometimes, and for now, that's enough for me.

(Just try not to take too long.)

Always,
Megan
