Twin Cities Brunch | Modern Times Cafe in Minneapolis

Alright you guys, I'm finally going to introduce you to my favorite place. Modern Times is the most amazing brunch spot in Minneapolis and I would go every day if I could. They have fantastic coffee and the best menu. The window outside says "Organic - Vegan - Vegetarian - Fair Trade - Carnivore" and they seriously mean it. They also have delicious gluten-free toast, so I just really do brunch while I'm there.

All of the food looks, smells, and probably is amazing, but we always order pretty much the exact same thing. Sometimes I get a latte with whole milk (the only thing they don't seem to have is almond milk), but most of the time I'm happy with their coffee (they serve coffee fresh out of a French press all day). Rob always gets the Deadwood Scramble and I get a gluten-free Croque John Paul (pictured below) without cheese.

As you can probably tell already, I can't recommend this place enough. We take everyone who visits us here at least once, and then I daydream about it until we go back again. If you're ever in the area, make sure you stop by for breakfast or brunch one day; but don't you dare go without me!

Twin Cities Lunch | The Happy Gnome in St. Paul

The Happy Gnome has recently become our favorite spot to have lunch. When Rob's brother Dan came to visit us a few weeks ago, Rob put together a list of places that had awesome beer selections. We stopped by The Happy Gnome for lunch and loved it so much that we were back again the next day for dinner. They have a huge selection of beers and quite a few hard ciders, as well, but it's the burgers that keep us coming back. Any burger that comes topped with pulled pork is fine by me. The adorable neighborhood and the fact that their mixed greens salad is so good that sometimes I actually want it instead of fries helps, too.

I always get a Bloody Mary and the Angus Cheeseburger without a bun or cheese, and Rob gets a beer and the Game Burger, which is bison and elk and comes with lingonberry mayo. Everything is good.

My Bloody Mary garnishes didn't make the photo opp--see a complete picture here.

Twin Cities Coffee | Spyhouse Coffee Roasting Company in Minneapolis
I am so happy that I've always lived somewhere with great coffee shops.

Spyhouse Coffee Roasting Company has three cozy locations around Minneapolis. Rob and I have managed to visit each one over the past two weeks. Our favorite is the one on Broadway, but these photos were taken at the one on Nicolette.

They're all awesome, and they all have almond milk! It's not homemade, but it is delicious and they steam it perfectly to compliment their amazing espresso. I'm usually a black coffee/espresso/plain latte drinker, but they have a menu of creative specialty drinks that I had to try something different the first two times I went. I've had The Spygirl, which is a latte with honey and lavender syrup; and the Mexican Mocha, which is spicy and chocolaty and delicious.

I love coffee, and I especially love being able to get a dairy-free latte that isn't with soy milk. Spyhouse, you're awesome!
