The Return of Hello, Butter
Hello, Butter Podcast

Lately some of you have been asking about the podcast my friend Jenna and I started a few months ago, and I realized how much I've missed it. Life has been so crazy for both of us, and Jenna is still taking a break from both the podcast and The Eighty Twenty, but I'm ready to get back to recording new episodes of Hello, Butter, so for now we've decided that I'm going to go ahead with it on my own.

So, what does the future of Hello, Butter look like (or, I guess...sound like)? I want to keep the conversational tone that Jenna and I had, so I'd love to have guest hosts on regularly. If you have a topic or a question or someone in mind for me to talk to (yourself included!), please send me an email or leave a comment and let me know!

Rob is building a new site where all of the episodes will live, and as requested we're going to be on iTunes ASAP for your convenience (I know I don't listen to podcasts unless I can easily download them via my app as well, so I'm with you all there). Until then, though, I'm putting all of the episodes we've already published in this blog post so you can re-listen and even download them to your computers or phones.

Whether you've listened before or not, I hope you enjoy! And please feel free to let me know anytime if you have suggestions, criticism, ideas, or questions.

Hello, Butter Episodes 1-5

While I have still not figured out how to drop music into Audacity (or create an RSS feed so you guys can download these episodes on iTunes...baby steps), Jenna and I have managed to put out five episodes of our podcast and for that, I couldn't be more proud.

We've covered a wide range of topics, from random facts about ourselves to our workout history plus a chat about barre and what makeup we wear every day (including what we'd use if we were only allowed one product). We had an in-depth discussion about the latest season of GIRLS (and hope to do a similar episode with other shows, too) and, in my favorite episode so far, talked about making and keeping friendships as an adult.

If you have any topics you'd like us to cover, let me know and we'll add it to the list! I was so intimidated to start podcasting a few months ago but now it's one of my absolute favorite things.

Episodes: 12 / 3 / 4 / 5

30 Days of Barre

I finished up my first month of barre classes and wanted to share a few thoughts about it here with you today. Some of this might be repeated from episode two of Hello, Butter (which you should listen to if you haven't yet!), but a lot of it isn't.

Coming from a running and ex-CrossFit mentality, barre didn't seem like enough of a workout at first. You never lift more than five pounds in each hand, and you really don't even move that much for most of the class. But after a few classes, I started to "get it" a bit more and then I was actually kind of hooked. I went 21 times in 30 days and I feel stronger, look a little leaner, and have gained so much flexibility that was just totally nonexistent before.

I wasn't sure I was going to sign up for a six month or twelve month contract after these first 30 days, but I ended up purchasing a six month contract because I didn't want to just buy classes and try to stretch them out. I think I need to go four or five times a week to see the results I want, so an unlimited membership makes more sense at this point.

I still don't know if I love barre, but it works and I'm able to go as much as I want without getting injured, which wasn't the case for me and CrossFit. My next challenge is to find a way to fit running back into my schedule, because I think barre plus running will be the perfect fitness balance for me.

Do you go to barre? What's your fitness schedule look like? I want to know everything!
